I'd be remiss beyond all belief if I didn't take a brief moment and note that today is the 40th anniversary of Star Trek. The official Trek website has a great little editorial marking the day, and their anniversary section is chock full of information on the various celebrations and remembrances that have been taking place.

Happy anniversary, Star Trek! And thanks to Gene Roddenberry and all the amazing creative people who have brought this universe to life for the last four decades. My life is infinitely richer because of Trek - I can't begin to imagine what my world would be like without it.
